Negative thinking is an aberration

I have always wondered why people think in a negative manner. Sometime people, seen as role models, also do negative thinking. PM's veiled caveat to the Confedration of Indian Industry (CII) that if the private sector does not accept caste-based job reservations it might have them thrust down its throat by executive fiat. Are we living in a democracy or a dictatorship Mr. PM? Such negative thinking on the part of PM puts him in the category of those politicians who see everything from their vested personal interests and dirty vote-bank politics. There should be some difference between Manmohan Singh and Lalu or Paswan or Arjun and their likes.

You are once again right Suresh Gupta. It has laways been a mystery for me why people think in a negative manner. Tinking negative about someone, some hapenning, some thought, some speech, some action etc., only creates tension.

PM, in a democratic set up, should create a national consensus by the process of discussion and not by threats. Inda is a society of many diversities. A process of elimination of such diversities should be the priority.

Inclusiveness of all should be the guiding principle. Reservation is a negative concept. The result is there for every body to see. It has benefited only a few (the creamy layer in backward communities) and the real backward people have remained backward even after half a decade of reservations.

Even Judges can think in a negative manner. A judge of Karnataka High Court, in a recent judgement, has ruled that punishing a child in good faith cannot be construed as an offense. Now every violant act against children will be projected as an act of good faith. The judge should have also proposed a reward for the people who act in such good faith.

Dear Suresh Gupta,

I will like to congratulate you and also thank you for starting such a nice blog. Common people like me, who never get any chance of airing their views in media, get a chance to share their views with others on this blog.

Negative thinking is not a part of human nature. You are right that when we think in a negative manner, we act against our basic nature and this creates tension. Tension is the reason for all problems in an individual's life which synerziges in to a problem of human society.

UPA government going to SC and SC staying demolitions in Baroda is an example of negative mind set. Rather than supporting the right action of Baroda authorities they have choosen to appease muslims for narrow political gains.Don't they know that such illegal structures have become a business.

What has happened in Paliamemt on Friday (12 May 2006) is a living example of collective negative thinking. Entire representative body of Indian people thought and acted in a negative manner and passed a legislation that seeks to put a year-long moratorium on court-mandated sealing of illegal shops, demolishing the unauthorized constructions and eviction of unauthorized slum dwellers and street vendors.

Peoples' representatives have put people to shame. People have elected them to think positively, analyze the problems in a hollistic manner and take decsions to remove the problem and not to compound it. But they have failed to act in a positive manner.

What will happen after one year? This problem has been created by these same politicians in collaboration with land mafia, MCD corrupt officials and law-breaking people. In the garb of helping people(who have illegally occupied public land) these politicians have in fact saved their own illegal occupations and constructions.
